Learning Outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. Front Cover Double page spread Both images have been exported as JPEGs. (M4, D1 - U3) Meeting the client brief and creating meaning Front Cover Front cover Font tool - Layer Style The screen shot above links to the target brief. This is because I was supposed to write about an up and coming vibrant scene. In my double page spread I wrote about the new up and coming rapper named Cooper Trooper. I also write about rap which is a vibrant music scene that is becoming more increasingly popular. I used a stroke on this to provide two colours on the artist's name so that my target audience remember his name. It stands out more to the reader and promotes the artist. Front cover Colour Scheme  The colors I have used for my front cover are black, red and yellow. I think that there are many reasons as to why these colours su...

Post-production techniques and processes (P5: U3)

Image
Learning Outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief Evidence of post-production techniques and tools used in Photoshop This was the background I used for my double page spread. The reason I used this background is because it looks scary. Rap is seen as a scary genre. I used a paintbrush tool too make the background look dirty and slightly destroyed. This connotes that it is an intense article During my post production I was testing what colour my fonts should be. I had decided that I would be using white and red. This is so that the writing could be seen well. It also sticks to the colour scheme. I used the colour red as it represented danger and violence which are clear links to the genre. In this image I had drawn three individual black boxes using the rectangle tool. The reason for this was because I had to make  all the writing fit on the left side of the A3 ...

Create production materials (P4 & M3 : U3)

Learning Outcome 3 (U3): Be able to create production materials for an original media product to a client brief. Asset List: - Model - Camera  - Computer/ Photoshop - Mood board  - Sketches  - Fonts Body Copy Rhymes were lucky enough to talk to an up and coming rap artist in Cooper Trooper. He grew up in Tottenham (North London) and had a difficult child hood. He was brought up by his mum, who worked day and night to provide for him and his younger brother. Living in a one-bed council estate, Cooper Trooper often wrote and performed short raps to his younger sibling. Reflecting on his early life, it was difficult and Cooper Trooper explained from an early age he did not mix with the best of groups. “ In Secondary school I was friendly with gang members, I thank my lucky starts that I got out when I did, as they are now heavily into crime and drugs”.  As a teenager, life wasn’t going his way. He was in trouble with the law often and he knew...

Plan and develop pre-production materials (P3 & M2: U3)

Image
Learning Outcome 2 (U3): Be able to plan and develop pre-production materials for an original media product to a client brief MODEL PERMISSION FORM LOCATION RELEASE FORM LOCATION RELEASE FORM ETHICAL AND LEGAL ISSUES An ethical issue would be if there are any revealing photos. This is because it is very inappropriate for the magazine and would not have much relevance to it at all. Also, we do not want Rhymes to be given the reputation of a magazine that shows an inappropriate image. I do not think that people would think Rhymes is a serious rap magazine if their were any inappropriate images. To resolve this, we will be taking our own images and ensuring that they are appropriate for our target audience and of the artists. One issue that can be seen as both an ethical issue and illegal is libel (bad mouthing someone). This is because it could damage someones reputation for the rest of their career. It is an illegal issue be...

Evaluate the response (D1: U21)

Learning Outcome 3 (U21): Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions The client provided me with five pieces of feedback which was extremely insightful. Some points were useful and will help me to develop my product, however some of his feedback was not useful. The client asked about the price of my magazine. I explained that it was £3 for a printed copy and £1.50 if my readers wanted to take out a subscription. I have decided not to take his advice on board to lower my cost as I have done some further research from looking at magazines such as Wordplay , which costs £3.50, my magazine is cheaper and therefore a competitor to a magazine with a similar genre. The client really liked the idea of me creating a biodegradable magazine, but said that it would be quite pricey. I chose this form as it is good for the environment and encourages more eco-friendly readers, which widens my target audience. However, from looking at costings I have seen that it...

Planning and Preparing a Pitch (P3 M2: U21) Pitch Your Ideas (P4, M3 - U21)

Image
Learning Outcome 2 (U21): Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief. Pitch your ideas: Learning Outcome 3 (U21): Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions. Learning Outcome 3 (U3): Be able to pitch ideas based on a proposal media product and respond to questions. I had done a practice pitch as well as a presentation. The reason for this is because this would allow me to gain valuable feedback from the class and teacher. This would help me make an improved pitch and presentation which would help me do my pitch to as high a standard as possible. Potential client questions Who are Rhymes' competitors? - Rhymes' main competitor are XXL. This is is because they are well established in the market. Where will Rhymes be sold? - Rhymes will be sold in different shops such as newsagents in North London. Why have you included these images in your mood board? - I have included these images in my...

Create a proposal and pitch for a media product (P1, P2, M1 - U3. P2 - U21)

Image
Learning outcome 1 (U3): Be able to create a proposal with sample materials for an original  media product to a client brief. Learning Outcome 2 (U21): Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a given brief Rhymes Proposal Purpose I have decided to call my magazine Rhymes. This name was given as most rap songs are known for having words that rhyme with each other and most of the time have hidden messages within their lyrics. Form and genre Rhymes is a rap magazine. I have chosen this genre as from my research I found that this was a very popular North London genre and currently there are no rap based magazines available. This creates a USP. My target audience are teenagers/young adults and this genre is popular amongst this age group and more specifically in North London. Its objective is to entertain people who are interested in the rap industry. It will inform the readers where the specific rapper would be making an appearance for ...
